Canon unveils its new EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera. This successor to Canon’s popular EOS 5D claims to be a compact and affordable camera with remarkable HD video capture.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II packs in a 21.1 MP 24 x 36mm CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor, HD movie recording with 1920 x 1080 resolution, sensitivity range from ISO 50 to ISO 25,600, 15-point Autofocus (AF) sensor with nine selectable AF points plus six additional Assist AF points, clear 3.0-inch Clear View LCD screen and an enhanced 150,000-cycle shutter durability.

The camera allows continuous shooting at 3.9 frames per second (fps) for an unlimited number of full-resolution JPEGs depending on the storage capacity or up to 14 RAW images in a single burst with UDMA CF card. Watch movies as well as still photos with its HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output to display crisp, clear images on a High-Definition TV.

The EOS 5D Mark II also bundles up 16:9 full HD video capture at 1920 x 1080 pixels and 30 fps as well as 4:3 standard TV quality (SD) video capture at 640 x 480 pixels and 30 fps, record video up to 4GB per clip, Peripheral illumination correction, Auto Lighting Optimizer technology, Creative Full Auto setting, Silent Shooting in Live View, EOS integrated Cleaning System and three Live View AF modes namely Quick, Live View shooting with Live and Face detection Live mode.

It offers flexibility with the two small RAW Formats, sRAW1 with 10.0-megapixels with a file size that is approximately 25 percent smaller than a standard 21.1-megapixel RAW image and sRAW2 with 5.2 megapixels at less than half the file size of a standard RAW image.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera is compatible with Canon EF lenses and is scheduled for delivery by the end of November at an estimated retail price of $2,699 (approx Rs. 1,25,071). It comes in a revised kit with Canon’s EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM zoom lens that retails for $3,499 (approx Rs. 1,62,143). A complement to the EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera, EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM lens will be in the stores in December and is expected to retail for $1,699 (approx Rs. 78,730).
